There are a couple of posts that I really want to write before the baby comes and this is one of my most anticipated ones. We originally rented a two-bedroom apartment because we knew we would want to have kids soon and I didn't want to be moving while pregnant. Even with a two-bedroom apartment, I don't know how anyone can dedicate a whole room to a nursery. We have too much stuff and baby
has to gets to share a room with our camping, sports, exercise, craft, etc. stuff. At first I really wanted to buy a room divider so I could feel like I have a nice space that is just the baby's and mine while feeding, etc. Well, I love how his little 3/4 room turned out and I feel like it will be a nice, welcoming space to spend with the baby, regardless of our stuff lining one of the walls.
I am not one to enjoy the decisions of what to decorate with. When there are thousands of different options for items like crib bedding sets, I have a difficult time deciding what to purchase. However, when I saw these crib sheets, I thought they would be perfect because they incorporate lots of different fun, bright colors. Plus, I love elephants. The sheet set is what inspired the rest of the nursery.

I wanted to be wise about how much money was spent on the nursery and decided to do as many DIY projects as I could. I made this adorable mobile to hang over the crib. I used a Cricut to cut out all of the circles and then used double-sided tape to tape them onto strings of various lengths (there are two circles stuck together with the tape and string in-between). I painted the inner part of an embroidery hoop white and then used a hot glue gun to glue the strings and ribbon onto the hoop. I should have taken pictures of the process to make a tutorial. The three framed pictures were fun to make. I painted frames I already had using paint I had in my craft supplies. I used photoshop to alter the elephant, used one of the scrap papers from all the circles I cut out with the Cricut and put a different colored paper behind it, and the big picture was a super fun
free printable I found that can be personalized with name and color. The little gray elephant tote is from TJ Maxx and will be his laundry basket. Behind the white blanket is a little shelving unit with my stuff on it lol. I got the three plastic baskets for the top from Dollar Tree.

The fabric garlands hanging above the changing table and bedroom window were also a fun craft to make. I got the two gray totes for the changing table at Big Lots for $5 each. They were the only ones left and I had to settle for the fact that they didn't match because the price was right.
I seriously cannot thank friends and family enough for the gifts and wonderful hand-me-down items that we have received. I love that my nursery is made up of items from loved ones - the crib was my little brother's 10 years ago, the glider from my sister-in-law Kristen, the changing table from my sister-in-law Britta, and lots of clothing from various friends and family members. Thank heavens for having so much family on both sides! I can hardly wait to rock my little one in his nursery. Two weeks until due date!
